Checkers and Woolworths using truck trailers that charge their fridges using wheel motion
Two of South Africa’s largest grocery retailers are using e-axles that use the movement of a trailer’s wheels to generate energy for refrigeration in their truck trailers.
Shoprite recently confirmed that it was trialling an electrically-operated trailer powered by the kinetic energy generated by its axle as part of its emissions reduction programme in its logistics segment.
