Competition Commission destroying South African small businesses
South African small businesses are being muscled out of their own market by a wave of overseas merchants flooding into Takealot — and the Competition Commission is the one holding the door open.
By tying Takealot’s hands with a 2023 ruling following a market inquiry, the regulator has inadvertently cleared a path for Chinese sellers to hijack local online retail.
