Beginning of the end for affordable cars in South Africa
The era of buying an entry-level car for under R200,000 could be coming to an end in South Africa, as the Department of Trade, Industry, and Competition reviews possible measures to curb car imports.
This could see the country implement a 50% duty on cars imported from China and India, which would increase the prices of the most affordable cars available locally by around R40,000.
