New tax proposed for South Africa
The National Treasury has proposed implementing a 20% tax on gambling revenue in South Africa, with the aim of reducing online gambling in the country.
According to Christopher Axelson, deputy director-general for tax and financial sector policy at the entity (pictured), revenue generated from the tax won’t be ringfenced.
