Competition Commission takes aim at Google, Facebook, and ChatGPT
The Competition Commission of South Africa has released its preliminary findings and proposed remedies in its inquiry into the impact of large digital platforms like Google, YouTube, and Facebook on local news media.
In a presentation by the Commission’s expert panel member, media veteran Paula Fray, the watchdog stated that foreign platforms had disintermediated local news media.
