DA rejects ‘Vat budget’ during parliamentary deliberations

The Democratic Alliance (DA) has officially tabled an amendment to reject Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s proposed 0.5%-increase in value-added tax (Vat) on Tuesday.

DA MP and finance spokesperson Mark Burke announced this during a joint meeting of the Standing Committee and Select Committee on Finance, at which members of parliament were set to vote on the fiscal framework…
