JOHANNESBURG – Five people have died after the taxi they were travelling in overturned on the N1 North freeway in Midrand.

Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) said the incident occurred between the Buccleuch Interchange and Allandale Road.

Emergency services and law enforcement are currently on the scene of the accident.

JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla said traffic was affected.
