One type of car is R600,000 cheaper in South Africa than a year ago
The range of plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) models expanded significantly in South Africa in 2025, thanks to several Chinese car manufacturers.
In 2024, the most affordable PHEV in the country was the BMW iX1 crossover, which was priced at more than R1.1 million.
