End of an era for old electrical plugs in South Africa
South Africa is amid a gradual transition to a new electrical plug standard as the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) works to establish a compact, hexagonal design as the primary socket type in new buildings.
Officially called SANS 164–2, this design is often referred to as the “ZA Plug” or simply “the new plug” and has been part of building code amendments for several years.
