South African university student uncovers security flaw in critical financial system
An Internet-facing system of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) had a security flaw that, if exploited, would give an attacker privileged access to highly sensitive services.
The security vulnerability exposed the personal data of every student who had begun an application for NSFAS funding since 2022, as well as some personal information associated with system administrators.
