One problem with getting smart ID cards at banks in South Africa
There are too few bank branches offering smart ID and passport services in South Africa, meaning many citizens still have to queue at Home Affairs offices for these documents.
Presenting his 2025 budget vote speech, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Njabulo Nzuza revealed that just 2.6% of smart ID applications processed in the past two years have come through bank branches.
