Weird situation but my dad recently passed away. My mom and he divorced in around ‘83. My step mom handed in his death notice/certificate at the company managing his retirement funding so that it’s all above board and they stop paying his pension. It turns out there’s an endowment as well that was set to be paid out to my mom – the original policy was taken out in the 70s. The beneficiary was never changed to my step mom.
